Cameron vs. Commonwealth
2017
-
After the decision to exclude 16 and 17-year-olds from the marriage equality postal survey, Cameron Warasta, a Melbournian schoolboy made a complaint against the Australian government arguing that is unlawful discrimination to exclude these young people based on their age. If successful, the court challenge will give about 50,000 Australians aged 16 and 17 who are on the electoral roll a vote on marriage equality.
The brand was required to look young, progressive and part of a community effort. I created an iconic symbol that could represent people power: the megaphone symbolises having a strong voice, which is what the challenge hopes to give to tens of thousands of young Australians. The typography and colours were selected to be serious enough to been court yet be cheerful enough to represent young people.
